About Half Permutations

چکیده
In 2011, Beaton et al. analytically proved that the number of directed columnconvex permutominoes of size n is given by (n+ 1)!/2. In this paper, we provide a different proof of this statement using a bijective method. More precisely, we present a bijective correspondence between the class Dn of directed column-convex permutominoes of size n and a set of permutations (called dcc-permutations) of length n + 1, which we prove to be counted by (n + 1)!/2. The class of dcc-permutations is a new class of permutations counted by half factorial numbers, and here we show some combinatorial characterizations of this class, using the concept of logical formulas determined by a permutation and the notion of mesh pattern.

New Algorithm for Listing All Permutations
The most challenging task dealing with permutation is when the element is large. In this paper, a new algorithm for listing down all permutations for n elements is developed based on distinct starter sets. Once the starter sets are obtained, each starter set is then cycled to obtain the first half of distinct permutations. The complete list of permutations is achieved by reversing the order of ...
متن کاملDifferential Cryptanalysis of Round-Reduced PRINTcipher: Computing Roots of Permutations
At CHES 2010, the new block cipher PRINTcipher was presented. In addition to using an xor round key as is common practice for round-based block ciphers, PRINTcipher also uses key-dependent permutations. While this seems to make differential cryptanalysis difficult due to the unknown bit permutations, we show in this paper that this is not the case. We present two differential attacks that succe...
متن کاملQuantum vs. deterministic queries on permutations
K.Iwama and R.Freivalds [12] considered query algorithms where the black box contains a permutation. Since then several authors have compared quantum and deterministic query algorithms for permutations. It turns out that the case of n-permutations where n is an odd number is difficult. There was no example of permutation problem where quantization can save half of the queries for (2m + 1)-permu...

متن کاملA Stream Cipher Based on Chaotic Permutations
In this paper we introduce a word-based stream cipher consisting of a chaotic part operating as a chaotic permutation and a linear part, both of which designed on a finite field. We will show that this system can operate in both synchronized and self-synchronized modes. More specifically, we show that in the self-synchronized mode the stream cipher has a receiver operating as an unknown input o...
